Ingredients

  • 500 g Brussels sprouts (Washed, outer leaves peeled, ends trimmed, halved, then patted dry)
  • 2 tbsp Salted butter
  • 45 g Pecans (Roughly chopped; some left whole)
  • 2 tbsp Maple syrup
  • Salt (To taste; author used about 1/2 tsp, then adjusted to preference)
  • Black pepper (To taste; author used about 1/8 tsp, then adjusted to preference)

Steps

  1. 1

Wash the Brussels sprouts, peel away the outer leaves, and cut off the ends. Cut the sprouts in half, then pat the halves dry.

  2. 2

Heat a large frying pan over medium-high heat and add the salted butter.

  3. 3

Add the Brussels sprouts to the pan. Fry for about 5 minutes, until they are beginning to brown.

  4. 4

Add the maple syrup, pecans, salt, and black pepper to the pan.

  5. 5

Cook for about 5 more minutes, until the sprouts and pecans are caramelized and golden brown. Keep the sprouts pleasantly firm rather than soft or mushy.

  6. 6

Taste and adjust the seasoning to your preference, then serve and eat straight away.

Notes

The creator describes the finished sprouts as sweet and crispy and recommends serving them as a roast-dinner side. The transcript gives an overall cooking time of about 10–15 minutes, while the written method specifies two periods of about 5 minutes each.
