Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 1.5 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 tbsp whole milk
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2.75 cup all-purpose flour
- 1.5 tsp baking powder
- 0.75 tsp salt
- 0.5 tsp baking soda
- 0.5 cup red and green sprinkles
- 0.25 cup granulated sugar (for rolling)
Steps
- 1
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- 2
Beat the softened butter and 1½ cups sugar together for 2–3 minutes, until light and fluffy.
- 3
Add the egg, egg yolk, whole milk, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
- 4
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and baking soda.
- 5
Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until a soft dough forms.
- 6
Fold in the red and green sprinkles.
- 7
Scoop 1½–2 tablespoons of dough and roll it into balls. Coat each ball in the sugar reserved for rolling.
- 8
Place the dough balls 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheets.
- 9
Bake for 8–10 minutes, until the edges are just set and lightly golden. The centers should still look soft; they finish baking on the sheet after removal from the oven.
- 10
Cool the cookies on the baking sheets for 3–5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack. Add extra sprinkles if desired.
Notes
The source does not state a yield; serving estimate is about 24 cookies. The centers may look underbaked when removed from the oven; leave the cookies on the baking sheet for the stated cooling period so they finish baking.
