Ingredients
- 400 g Beef (thinly sliced into strips)
- 0.5 tsp Salt (for marinade)
- 0.5 tsp Black pepper
- 0.25 tsp White pepper
- 1 tsp Ginger garlic paste
- 4.5 tbsp Corn flour (4-5 Tbsp)
- 1 tbsp Soy sauce (National brand recommended)
- 1 Egg (small)
- 0.5 tbsp Garlic (chopped)
- 1 Onion (julienne cut)
- 1 Capsicum (julienne cut)
- 1 tbsp Brown sugar
- 0.25 tsp Salt (for gravy)
- 1 tsp Red chilli crushed
- 2 tbsp Soy sauce (National brand recommended)
- 2 tbsp Sweet chilli sauce
- 1 tbsp Vinegar (National brand recommended)
- 2 tbsp Tomato ketchup (National brand recommended)
- 3.5 tbsp Water (3-4 tbsp)
- Oil (for deep frying)
Steps
- 1
In a mixing bowl, combine the 400 grams of beef strips with 1/2 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp black pepper, 1/4 tsp white pepper, 1 tsp ginger garlic paste, 1 tbsp soy sauce, and 1 small egg.
- 2
Add 4-5 tbsp of corn flour to the beef mixture and mix thoroughly until every strip is well-coated.
- 3
Heat oil in a deep pan or wok. Fry the beef strips in batches until they are golden brown and crispy. Remove and set aside to drain.
- 4
In a separate pan or clean wok, heat a small amount of oil and add 1/2 tbsp chopped garlic. Sauté until fragrant.
- 5
Add the julienned onion and capsicum to the pan. Stir-fry briefly until slightly softened but still crisp.
- 6
Add 1 tbsp brown sugar, 1/4 tsp salt, 1 tsp crushed red chilli, 2 tbsp soy sauce, 2 tbsp sweet chilli sauce, 1 tbsp vinegar, 2 tbsp tomato ketchup, and 3-4 tbsp water.
- 7
Stir the sauce ingredients together and bring to a simmer until the gravy thickens slightly.
- 8
Add the fried crispy beef back into the pan. Toss quickly to coat the beef evenly in the gravy and serve immediately.
Notes
For best results, use a tender cut of beef like undercut or tenderloin to ensure it cooks through quickly during the frying process. Serve hot to maintain the crispiness of the beef.
