Ingredients
- 500 g Chicken wings (skin removed for weight loss version)
- Salt (to taste)
- Black pepper (to taste)
- Paprika (for seasoning the wings)
- Chilli powder (to taste)
- Onion powder (to taste)
- Garlic powder (to taste)
- 2 tbsp Corn flour (also known as cornstarch)
- 1 tsp Baking powder (helps achieve crispiness in the oven)
- 1 Egg (small)
- 2 tbsp Butter (for the sauce)
- 0.5 tbsp Pure honey
- Garlic (chopped)
- 0.5 tsp Paprika (for the sauce)
- 1.5 tbsp Sriracha sauce
- Lemon juice (a splash)
Steps
- 1
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
- 2
In a large bowl, combine the 500g of chicken wings with salt, black pepper, paprika, chilli powder, onion powder, and garlic powder to taste.
- 3
Add 2 tablespoons of corn flour, 1 teaspoon of baking powder, and 1 small egg to the wings. Toss thoroughly until every wing is evenly coated in the mixture.
- 4
Place the wings on a baking sheet and bake at 180°C for 12 minutes, or until cooked through and crispy.
- 5
While the wings are baking, prepare the sauce. In a small pan over medium heat, melt 2 tablespoons of butter.
- 6
Add the chopped garlic to the butter and sauté until fragrant.
- 7
Stir in 1/2 tablespoon of pure honey, 1/2 teaspoon of paprika, 1 1/2 tablespoons of sriracha sauce, and a splash of lemon juice. Simmer for a minute until well combined and slightly thickened.
- 8
Once the wings are done baking, remove them from the oven and toss them in the prepared honey sriracha sauce until fully glazed.
Notes
For a weight loss friendly version, the author recommends removing the skin from the chicken wings and avoiding deep frying. The baking powder and corn flour technique helps mimic a fried texture in the oven.
