Ingredients

  • 1 kg potatoes (Weigh peeled and raw; cut into quarters.)
  • 80 g salted butter
  • 160 ml double/heavy cream
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper (Plus a final crack to finish; amount for finishing not specified.)
  • 0.125 tsp garlic granules
  • Brie (Cut into thick slices; quantity not stated.)
  • 1 tsp honey (Optional; drizzle over the top.)

Steps

  1. 1

Peel the potatoes and cut them into quarters.

  2. 2

Put the potatoes in a large saucepan, cover with water, and boil for about 15–20 minutes, until a knife glides through easily and the potatoes are soft all the way through.

  3. 3

While the potatoes boil, preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).

  4. 4

Drain the potatoes and pass them through a potato masher into a suitable bowl or pan.

  5. 5

Add the butter, cream, garlic granules, salt, and measured black pepper. Mix until combined.

  6. 6

Transfer the mash to a baking dish and smooth the top.

  7. 7

Arrange thick slices of Brie over the mashed potatoes.

  8. 8

Bake for about 10 minutes, until the Brie has melted and is beginning to turn golden.

  9. 9

Drizzle with the optional honey and finish with a crack of black pepper. Serve.

Notes

The source does not specify the quantity of Brie or the amount of water for boiling. The transcript suggests serving alongside sausages and greens or a hearty pie.
