Ingredients

  • 1 lb chicken breasts (Sliced into cubes)
  • 0.5 cup all-purpose flour (For dredging)
  • 0.5 tsp salt (For the seasoned flour)
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper (For the seasoned flour)
  • 0.5 tsp paprika (For the seasoned flour)
  • 0.5 tsp garlic powder (For the seasoned flour)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil (For cooking the chicken)
  • 2 tbsp butter (For cooking the chicken)
  • 2 tbsp garlic (Minced)
  • 0.333 cup sun-dried tomatoes (Chopped)
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes (Use 1/4 tsp for less heat)
  • 0.5 tsp oregano
  • 0.5 tsp thyme
  • 19 oz frozen tortellini (One bag)

Steps

  1. 1

In a bowl, mix the flour, salt, black pepper, paprika, and garlic powder to make the seasoned flour mixture.

  2. 2

Dredge the cubed chicken breasts in the seasoned flour, coating the pieces thoroughly.

  3. 3

Heat the olive oil and butter together in a skillet over medium heat.

  4. 4

Add the coated chicken to the skillet and cook for 4–5 minutes on each side, until golden brown and the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).

  5. 5

Remove the cooked chicken from the skillet and set it aside.

  6. 6

Add the minced garlic, chopped sun-dried tomatoes, and chicken broth to the skillet.

  7. 7

Lower the heat, then add the heavy cream and Parmesan cheese. Stir well to combine.

  8. 8

Add the red pepper flakes, oregano, and thyme. Stir everything together thoroughly.

  9. 9

Let the sauce simmer for at least 5 minutes, until it begins to thicken slightly.

  10. 10

Add the frozen tortellini to the skillet and cover. Cook for a few minutes, until the tortellini is tender; it will also help thicken the sauce.

  11. 11

Return the cooked chicken to the skillet, stir it into the sauce and tortellini, and serve.

Notes

The recipe description does not specify the exact cooking time for the covered tortellini; cook it only until tender. The full amount of red pepper flakes makes the dish somewhat spicy; use 1/4 teaspoon for less heat.
