Ingredients
- 1.5 tbsp butterscotch sauce (1-2 tbsp)
- 1 tsp vanilla bean paste
- 2.5 tsp instant espresso (2-3 tsp; author uses Nescafe Gold Vanilla)
- cinnamon (dash)
- brown butter salt (sprinkle)
- 3 oz water (hot water to dissolve espresso)
- Ice (enough to fill shaker and glass)
- 0.5 cup milk
Steps
- 1
In a cocktail shaker or a jar with a tight-fitting lid, add the butterscotch sauce, vanilla bean paste, instant espresso, dash of cinnamon, and a sprinkle of brown butter salt.
- 2
Pour in 3 ounces of hot water and stir or swirl until the espresso and sauces are fully dissolved and combined.
- 3
Add a generous handful of ice to the shaker.
- 4
Secure the lid and shake vigorously for about 15-20 seconds until the coffee is chilled and a thick foam has formed.
- 5
Fill a serving glass with fresh ice and strain the espresso mixture into the glass.
- 6
Top with 1/2 cup of milk and serve immediately.
Notes
If you don't have brown butter salt, a tiny pinch of sea salt works well to balance the sweetness of the butterscotch.
