Ingredients
- 160 g self-rising flour (self-rising flour)
- 250 ml Optimel Limited Edition Cherry Drink Yogurt (cherry flavored drink yogurt)
- 30 g vanilla protein powder (vanilla protein powder)
- 40 g sweetener (sweetener)
- 2 eggs (approx. 110 grams total)
- 120 g cherry pie filling (canned cherry pie filling/spread; can be replaced with fresh cherries)
- 8 g baking powder (baking powder)
Steps
- 1
Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F).
- 2
In a large mixing bowl, combine the self-rising flour, vanilla protein powder, sweetener, and baking powder.
- 3
Add the eggs and the Optimel cherry drink yogurt to the dry ingredients.
- 4
Mix the ingredients together until a smooth batter forms.
- 5
Gently fold in the cherry pie filling so that it is distributed throughout the batter.
- 6
Pour the batter into a cake tin and place it in the preheated oven.
- 7
Bake for approximately 40 minutes.
- 8
Perform a doneness check by inserting a wooden skewer into the center; if it comes out dry, the cake is ready.
- 9
Let the cake cool before slicing into 13 pieces.
Notes
The author recommends using canned cherry pie filling (vlaaifruit) over fresh cherries because the surrounding syrup/spread adds extra moisture and flavor to the cake. Each slice is approximately 75 kcal.
