Ingredients

  • 1 lb chicken breast (cut into bite-sized pieces or strips)
  • 0.333 cup pickle juice
  • 0.25 cup milk
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 0.5 tsp paprika
  • 0.5 tsp onion powder
  • 0.5 tsp garlic powder
  • 0.25 tsp chili flakes (for marinade)
  • 0.333 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 cup Kellogg’s Corn Flakes (crushed)
  • 0.5 cup honey
  • 0.25 cup Frank’s RedHot (or more to taste)
  • 0.5 tsp chili flakes (for sauce)
  • oil for frying (such as vegetable or canola oil)

Steps

  1. 1

In a large bowl, combine the chicken breast pieces with 1/3 cup pickle juice, 1/4 cup milk, 1/2 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp black pepper, 1/2 tsp paprika, 1/2 tsp onion powder, 1/2 tsp garlic powder, and 1/4 tsp chili flakes. Mix well to ensure the chicken is evenly coated and let it marinate.

  2. 2

Prepare your dredging station with three separate bowls: one with 1/3 cup all-purpose flour, one with 2 beaten eggs, and one with the crushed cornflakes.

  3. 3

Dredge each piece of marinated chicken first in the flour, shaking off any excess.

  4. 4

Dip the floured chicken into the egg mixture until fully submerged.

  5. 5

Press the chicken into the crushed cornflakes, ensuring a thick, even coating on all sides.

  6. 6

Heat oil in a skillet or deep fryer to 350°F (175°C). Fry the chicken in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 3-5 minutes per side depending on size, until the internal temperature reaches 165°F.

  7. 7

While the chicken is frying, prepare the Hot Honey Sauce by combining 1/2 cup honey, 1/4 cup Frank's RedHot, and 1/2 tsp chili flakes in a small saucepan over low heat.

  8. 8

Once the sauce is warm and well-combined, remove it from the heat.

  9. 9

Place the fried chicken in a clean bowl and pour the hot honey sauce over it. Toss gently until every piece is thoroughly glazed.

Notes

For extra heat, increase the amount of Frank's RedHot or chili flakes in the sauce. Ensure the oil is hot before frying to prevent the cornflake crust from becoming soggy.
