Ingredients
- 5 whole-wheat flour tortillas
- 200 g cooked and shredded chicken breast
- 1 tomato (Diced; approximately 120 g.)
- 50 g shredded mozzarella
- 100 g light cream cheese
- 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
- 1 tbsp garlic powder
- 1 egg yolk (Beaten, for brushing the flautas.)
- ground black pepper (To taste.)
- salt (To taste.)
- 100 g plain yogurt (For the deluxe sauce.)
- 1 tbsp fresh scallions (Chopped; for the deluxe sauce.)
- 1 tsp garlic powder (For the deluxe sauce.)
- ground black pepper (To taste, for the deluxe sauce.)
- salt (To taste, for the deluxe sauce.)
Steps
- 1
Preheat the oven to 210 °C with the grill function. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and have a few wooden toothpicks ready.
- 2
Place the cooked and shredded chicken, diced tomato, light cream cheese, shredded mozzarella, chopped parsley, and 1 tbsp of garlic powder in a bowl.
- 3
Season the chicken mixture with ground black pepper and salt to taste. Stir until the cream cheese is evenly distributed and coats the ingredients.
- 4
Place a portion of the filling at one end of each tortilla. Do not overfill it so it can be closed properly.
- 5
Roll each tortilla tightly, like an elongated burrito, and secure it with a toothpick to prevent it from opening during cooking.
- 6
Place the five flautas on the prepared baking sheet, spaced apart and seam-side down whenever possible.
- 7
Beat the egg yolk in a small bowl. Brush it over the entire exposed surface of the flautas to help them brown.
- 8
Reduce the oven temperature to 200 °C and bake the flautas for approximately 6 minutes, using the grill setting, until golden brown. Watch them closely because the grill can brown them quickly.
- 9
While the flautas are baking, place the plain yogurt, chopped fresh scallions, and 1 tsp of garlic powder in another bowl.
- 10
Season the sauce with ground black pepper and salt to taste. Mix until smooth.
- 11
Remove the toothpicks before serving, if preferred, and serve the flautas hot with the deluxe sauce.
Notes
They can also be prepared in an air fryer at 200 °C for 4 minutes. Remove the toothpicks before eating and verify that they are suitable for the cooking method used.
