Ingredients
- 2 cup rotini pasta
- 0.5 cup freeze-dried broccoli
- 0.333 cup cheddar cheese powder
- 2 tbsp powdered milk
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 0.5 tsp onion powder
- 0.25 tsp garlic powder
- 0.25 tsp salt
- 2 cup water (for cooking)
- 2 tbsp butter (for cooking)
Steps
- 1
In a clean quart-sized mason jar, add the rotini pasta.
- 2
Add the freeze-dried broccoli, cheddar cheese powder, powdered milk, cornstarch, onion powder, garlic powder, and salt to the jar.
- 3
Seal the jar tightly and store in a cool, dry pantry until ready to use.
- 4
When ready to cook, pour the entire contents of the jar into a medium saucepan.
- 5
Add 2 cups of water and 2 tablespoons of butter to the saucepan.
- 6
Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally to ensure the cheese powder and cornstarch dissolve evenly.
- 7
Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the pan, and simmer for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the pasta is tender and the sauce has thickened.
- 8
Remove from heat and let sit for 1-2 minutes before serving to allow the sauce to set.
Notes
This mix is shelf-stable for several months if kept in an airtight container. If you prefer a richer sauce, you can substitute 1/2 cup of the water with whole milk when cooking.
