Ingredients
- 3 very ripe bananas (Peeled; use very ripe bananas so they mash easily.)
- 1 cup peanut butter (Use more or less to taste; the amount is an estimate because the source indicates it is not measured.)
- 8 oz dark chocolate (Melted; approximately 60–70% cocoa.)
- 0.5 cup salted peanuts (Optional; chopped or whole, for sprinkling immediately over the chocolate.)
Steps
- 1
Line a sheet pan or flat tray with wax paper or parchment paper. Have a second sheet pan of the same size ready, as it will be used to flatten the bananas.
- 2
Place the peeled bananas on the lined sheet pan. Mash them with a fork or the base of the second sheet pan until they form a flat, even layer approximately 0.5 to 1 cm thick.
- 3
Spread the peanut butter over the entire surface of the bananas. Make the layer as thick as you like, but try to spread it evenly.
- 4
Place the sheet pan in the freezer for approximately 1 to 2 hours, until the peanut butter is completely firm to the touch.
- 5
Melt the dark chocolate in the microwave in 20 to 30-second intervals, stirring between each interval, or in a heatproof bowl set over a pot of barely simmering water. Continue until completely smooth; do not let any water get into the chocolate.
- 6
Pour the melted chocolate over the frozen banana and peanut butter layer. Quickly spread it with a spatula until the surface is covered.
- 7
While the chocolate is still wet, sprinkle the salted peanuts over the top. Press them down lightly so they adhere before the chocolate hardens.
- 8
Return the sheet pan to the freezer until the chocolate is completely firm, approximately 30 minutes.
- 9
Break or cut the frozen bark into small, bite-sized pieces. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container in the freezer.
Notes
The source does not provide exact measurements: the amounts of peanut butter, chocolate, and peanuts are estimates for a standard sheet pan. Keep the bark stored in the freezer; let the pieces sit at room temperature for 2 to 5 minutes if they are too hard to eat.
