Ingredients
- 0.5 cup unsalted butter (melted)
- 0.75 cup brown sugar
- 0.5 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1.25 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp cornstarch
- 0.5 tsp baking soda
- 0.5 tsp salt
- 0.66 cup red and green Christmas M&M's (divided; reserve some for topping)
- 0.5 cup milk chocolate chips
- 0.5 cup milk chocolate chunks (half in dough, half for topping)
Steps
- 1
In a large mixing bowl, mix together the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until combined.
- 2
Add the egg and mix until combined.
- 3
Mix in the vanilla extract.
- 4
In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking soda, and salt.
- 5
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- 6
Gently fold in the chocolate chips, half of the chocolate chunks, and most of the M&M’s, reserving a small handful of M&M’s and the remaining chocolate chunks for topping the cookies later.
- 7
Use a cookie scoop to drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- 8
Press a few reserved M&M’s and chocolate chunks on top of each cookie dough ball.
- 9
Refrigerate the dough balls for a minimum of two hours.
- 10
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- 11
Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and the centers are still soft.
- 12
Optional: Use a round cookie cutter to scoot around the hot cookies to make them perfectly circular.
- 13
Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet before serving.
Notes
Chilling the dough for at least two hours is essential to prevent the cookies from spreading too much. Using a round cookie cutter to 'scoot' the cookies immediately after they come out of the oven helps achieve a professional, perfectly round shape.
