Ingredients

  • 1 lb snow crab clusters
  • 1 lb large shrimp (peeled or shell-on)
  • 1.5 lb red potatoes (halved)
  • 1 pack beef kielbasa (sliced; typically 12-14 oz)
  • 4 eggs (large)
  • 1 onion (quartered)
  • 1 head garlic (whole head)
  • 1 lemon (sliced)
  • 1 pack Zatarain’s Seafood Boil
  • 2 tbsp Old Bay seasoning (for boil)
  • 2 tbsp onion powder (for boil)
  • 2 tbsp garlic powder (for boil)
  • 1 tbsp lemon pepper seasoning (for boil)
  • 1 tbsp smoked paprika (for boil)
  • 2 shrimp bouillon cubes
  • Fresh parsley (chopped, for garnish)
  • 1 cup butter (for sauce)
  • 0.5 onion (sliced, for sauce)
  • 8 cloves garlic (minced, for sauce)
  • 1 tbsp Old Bay seasoning (for sauce)
  • 1 tbsp onion powder (for sauce)
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder (for sauce)
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika (for sauce)
  • 1 tsp red chili flakes (for sauce)
  • 1 tsp lemon pepper seasoning (for sauce)
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley (chopped, for sauce)
  • 0.5 lemon juice (juice of 1/2 lemon, for sauce)

Steps

  1. 1

Fill a large stockpot with water and bring it to a boil.

  2. 2

Add Zatarain’s Seafood Boil, shrimp bouillon cubes, quartered onion, whole garlic head, lemon slices, Old Bay, onion powder, garlic powder, smoked paprika, and lemon pepper seasoning to the boiling water.

  3. 3

Add the halved red potatoes to the pot and boil for 12–15 minutes, or until fork-tender.

  4. 4

While the potatoes cook, gently place 4 eggs into a separate pot of boiling water. Boil for 10–12 minutes for hard-boiled eggs.

  5. 5

Transfer the boiled eggs to an ice bath, peel them, and set aside.

  6. 6

Slice the beef kielbasa and sear it in a skillet over medium-high heat until browned on both sides. Set aside.

  7. 7

Add the snow crab clusters to the main seafood boil pot and cook for 5–7 minutes.

  8. 8

Add the shrimp to the pot and cook for 2–3 minutes, just until they turn pink. Be careful not to overcook.

  9. 9

Add the peeled boiled eggs to the pot during the last 2–3 minutes of cooking so they can soak up the seafood boil flavor.

  10. 10

Prepare the garlic butter sauce by melting 1 cup of butter in a saucepan. Add the sliced onion and minced garlic, sautéing for 1–2 minutes until fragrant.

  11. 11

Stir in the Old Bay, onion powder, garlic powder, smoked paprika, red chili flakes, lemon pepper seasoning, chopped parsley, and lemon juice into the butter mixture.

  12. 12

Drain the seafood boil and transfer the crab, shrimp, potatoes, and eggs to a large serving tray. Add the browned kielbasa.

  13. 13

Pour the prepared garlic butter sauce over everything, toss gently to coat, and garnish with fresh chopped parsley.

Notes

Be careful not to overcook the shrimp; they are done as soon as they turn pink and opaque. The eggs are added at the end just to absorb the seasoned broth.
