Ingredients
- 2 red peppers
- 50 g walnuts
- 1 garlic (clove)
- 0.5 lemon juice (juice of half a lemon)
- 2 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil (Additionally, a little is used for roasting and serving, with no specified quantity.)
- 1 tbsp ground cumin
- 1 tbsp sweet paprika
- salt (to taste; also for roasting the peppers)
- pepper (to taste)
- sesame seeds (a little, for serving)
- toast (for serving)
Steps
- 1
Preheat the oven to 180 °C. Place the red peppers on a baking tray, add a little olive oil and salt, and roast them for 45 minutes.
- 2
Remove the peppers from the oven and carefully peel them.
- 3
Place the peeled peppers in a bowl with the walnuts, garlic, lemon juice, cumin, sweet paprika, and olive oil.
- 4
Season with salt and pepper, then blend everything in a food processor. According to the audio, aim for a slightly chunky texture, not completely smooth.
- 5
Serve the muhammara with a little sesame, olive oil, and toast.
Notes
Although the post states a five-minute preparation time, it indicates 45 minutes in the oven. The video describes a slightly chunky texture and suggests serving it as an appetizer, accompaniment, or spread.
