Ingredients
- 400 g Chicken thighs (boneless and skinless, cut into bite-sized pieces)
- 2 tbsp Cornstarch (for coating)
- Salt (a good pinch)
- Black pepper (to taste)
- 1 tbsp Vegetable oil (for frying)
- 3 tbsp Honey
- 3 Garlic cloves (grated or finely minced)
- 1 tsp Ginger paste
- 3 tbsp Light soy sauce
- 1 tbsp Rice vinegar
- Spring onions (sliced into rings, for garnish)
- Sesame seeds (for garnish)
- Chili (fresh, sliced, for garnish)
Steps
- 1
Cut the chicken thighs into bite-sized pieces.
- 2
Place the chicken in a bowl and toss with the cornstarch, salt, and black pepper until all pieces are completely coated.
- 3
Heat some oil in a pan over medium heat.
- 4
Add the chicken pieces to the pan and fry for about 8 minutes until golden brown and cooked through. The cornstarch creates a crispy crust.
- 5
Add the honey, grated garlic, ginger paste, soy sauce, and rice vinegar directly to the pan with the chicken.
- 6
Simmer the mixture for 2-3 minutes until the sauce has thickened slightly. The sauce should be sticky and coat the chicken glossily.
- 7
Serve the chicken over rice or noodles.
- 8
Garnish with sliced spring onions, chili, and sesame seeds.
Notes
This recipe is ideal for a calorie-conscious diet. For a gluten-free version, the soy sauce can be replaced with tamari.
