Ingredients
- 1 Puff pastry sheet (Cut into 4 pieces)
- 500 g Ground beef
- 100 g Pepperoni (Finely chopped)
- 50 g Chiles or chili peppers (Finely chopped)
- 200 g Mozzarella cheese
- 25 g Cheddar cheese
- White BBQ sauce (For spreading inside and serving as a dip; amount to taste)
- Garlic powder (To taste)
- Onion powder (To taste)
- Dried oregano (To taste)
- White pepper (To taste)
Steps
- 1
Finely chop the pepperoni and chili peppers. Have the beef, cheeses, spices, and sauce ready separately.
- 2
Heat a large skillet over high heat. Add the chopped pepperoni and chili peppers, and cook for a few minutes, stirring, until the pepperoni releases some of its fat and the chiles are fragrant.
- 3
Add the ground beef to the skillet. Add garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, and white pepper to taste.
- 4
Cook the beef over high heat, breaking it up with a spatula, until completely cooked and no longer pink. Remove the filling from the heat.
- 5
Place the puff pastry sheet on a clean surface and cut it into four equal pieces.
- 6
Spread a layer of white BBQ sauce on each piece of puff pastry, leaving an approximately 1 cm border clear so they can be sealed.
- 7
Add a little cheddar cheese over the sauce. Add a layer of beef, a layer of mozzarella, and another layer of beef, distributing the filling among the four pieces.
- 8
Fold the puff pastry over the filling and seal the edges very well by pressing them with your fingers or a fork, so the cheese does not escape during cooking.
- 9
Place the hot pockets in a skillet or on a griddle over medium-high heat. Cook them directly over the heat, turning them several times, until the puff pastry is golden brown and crisp on all sides and the cheese inside has melted, approximately 8 to 10 minutes.
- 10
Remove the hot pockets and let them rest for 1 or 2 minutes. Serve hot with more white BBQ sauce for dipping.
Notes
The video indicates that they are prepared without an oven in approximately 15 minutes. Since the puff pastry may brown before it is heated through completely, use medium-high heat and turn them frequently; verify that the filling reaches 71 ยฐC in the center before assembling the pockets.
