Ingredients

  • 8 oz real crab meat (lump or claw meat, picked over for shells)
  • 2 garlic (minced)
  • 2 scallions (finely chopped)
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds
  • 4 slice white bread (crusts removed if desired)
  • 1 tbsp avocado oil (for spraying or brushing)
  • 0.25 cup tartar sauce (for serving)

Steps

  1. 1

In a medium mixing bowl, combine the real crab meat, minced garlic, chopped scallions, and sesame seeds. Mix gently until the ingredients are evenly distributed.

  2. 2

Lay out the slices of white bread and spread the crab mixture evenly across each slice, pressing down slightly so it adheres to the bread.

  3. 3

Lightly coat the crab-topped side of the bread with avocado oil using a spray or brush to ensure a golden, crispy finish.

  4. 4

Place the bread slices in the air fryer basket. Air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 6-8 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and the crab topping is perfectly crispy.

  5. 5

Remove from the air fryer and serve immediately with a side of creamy tartar sauce.

Notes

For a more traditional texture, you can pulse half of the crab meat in a food processor to create a paste before mixing with the remaining lump meat. If you don't have an air fryer, these can be pan-fried crab-side down first in a little oil.
