Ingredients
- 115 g Butter (melt and brown; the browned bits can be strained out)
- 200 g Brown sugar
- 1 Egg
- 185 g Flour
- 1 petite cuillère à café Baking powder
- 100 g Dark or milk chocolate (approximate amount given by the author; roughly chopped. Choose dark or milk chocolate)
- Vanilla flavoring (quantity not specified)
Steps
- 1
Preheat the oven to 175 °C.
- 2
Melt the butter in a saucepan over low heat, stirring. Continue cooking until it browns to make brown butter.
- 3
Pour the brown butter into a bowl and mix it with the brown sugar.
- 4
Add the egg and vanilla flavoring, then mix.
- 5
Add the flour and baking powder, then mix to form the dough.
- 6
Roughly chop the chocolate, about 100 g as indicated by the author, then fold it into the dough.
- 7
Shape the dough into balls and space them out on a baking sheet. Flatten them slightly.
- 8
Bake for 10 minutes at 175 °C.
- 9
Let the cookies cool slightly before handling them. They taste best while still slightly warm.
Notes
The author uses chocolate bars, which she roughly chops, noting that they are cheaper and less sweet. She says you can strain out the browned bits formed as the butter browns. Comments suggest adjusting the sugar/flour and chilling the dough in the freezer, but these are variations not included in the original recipe.
