Steps
Add 2 tablespoons of olive oil, 1 cup of warm water, 1 tablespoon of sugar, 1 teaspoon of salt, and your desired amount of garlic into the bread machine pan.
Add 3 cups of bread flour on top of the liquid ingredients.
Make a small well in the center of the flour and add 1 1/4 teaspoons of bread machine yeast into the well, ensuring it does not touch the liquid or salt yet.
Add a portion of your chosen cheese to the pan.
Select the 'French Bread' setting on your bread machine.
Set the loaf size to 750 grams and select a 'Medium' crust setting.
Start the machine. During the mixing process, open the lid and add the remaining cheese to incorporate it throughout the dough.
Allow the machine to complete the mixing, kneading, rising, and baking cycles, which should take approximately 3 hours and 19 minutes.
Notes
The author uses a Kitchen in the Box bread machine. The total time of 3 hours and 19 minutes is specific to the French Bread setting on this specific machine. Adding cheese both at the start and during the mixing process ensures it is well-distributed.
