Ingredients
- 1 Lungo espresso (A large espresso; prepare it hot, approximately 60 ml / 2 fl oz)
- 1 tsp Unsalted butter (Approximately 5 g; a small piece)
- 0.5 oz Maple syrup (Add more if you prefer a sweeter drink)
- Salt (A pinch, plus optional extra for sprinkling)
- 1 cup Ice (Enough to fill the serving glass)
- 3 oz Milk (Use 3–4 oz / 90–120 ml of your milk of choice; nutrition estimated using 90 ml whole milk)
Steps
- 1
Prepare one large, hot lungo espresso. Pour it into a heatproof glass or small frothing vessel.
- 2
Add the butter, maple syrup, and a pinch of salt to the hot espresso. The heat from the coffee should help soften and melt the butter.
- 3
Froth the espresso mixture until the butter has completely dissolved and the liquid looks smooth and lightly foamy.
- 4
Fill a serving glass with ice. Use enough ice to chill the drink thoroughly without leaving the glass mostly empty.
- 5
Pour 3–4 oz / 90–120 ml of your milk of choice over the ice.
- 6
Pour the hot, frothed espresso mixture over the iced milk. The coffee will form a rich layer on top before gradually mixing with the milk.
- 7
Optionally sprinkle a little additional salt over the top, then serve immediately.
Notes
The recipe specifies a lungo and 3–4 oz / 90–120 ml milk, while the transcript mentions 3 oz. Use additional maple syrup for more sweetness. Recipe inspiration is credited to @livitcoffee.
