Ingredients

  • 1 Yellow Cake Mix (Super Moist, Moist Supreme, or Butter Recipe variety)
  • 4 Eggs (Large)
  • 1 stick Butter (Melted; replaces the oil called for on the box)
  • 1 cup Milk (Replaces the water called for on the box)
  • Vanilla Extract (A little extra for flavor)
  • 1 container Hershey's Chocolate Icing (Or preferred frosting)

Steps

  1. 1

Preheat your oven to 315°F (157°C).

  2. 2

In a large mixing bowl, add the yellow cake mix.

  3. 3

Add 4 eggs to the bowl.

  4. 4

Pour in 1 stick of melted butter.

  5. 5

    Add 1 cup of milk.

  6. 6

Add a splash of extra vanilla extract.

  7. 7

Mix all the ingredients together until well combined.

  8. 8

Pour the batter into a 9x11 inch baking pan.

  9. 9

Bake for 36 to 37 minutes.

  10. 10

Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool.

  11. 11

Open the container of chocolate icing and place it in the microwave for 15 to 20 seconds until it reaches a pourable consistency.

  12. 12

Pour the warmed icing over the top of the cooled cake.

  13. 13

Use a knife to spread the icing evenly, making sure to reach the corners.

  14. 14

Let the icing set before serving.

Notes

The recipe suggests using a 9x11 pan instead of the standard 9x13 for a slightly thicker cake, which requires the longer baking time of 36-37 minutes at the lower temperature of 315°F.
