Ingredients

  • 100 g cooked white rice (prepped and ready to use)
  • 2 canned tuna (drained; standard small cans (approx. 95g each))
  • 0.5 tbsp vinegar (rice vinegar preferred)
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 2.5 tbsp Kewpie mayo (Japanese mayonnaise)
  • 1 tbsp sriracha (or hot sauce of choice)
  • salt & pepper (to taste)
  • nori sheets (chopped or torn into pieces)
  • cheese (optional; 3 kinds of cheese recommended for topping)

Steps

  1. 1

In a bowl (or directly in your air fryer-safe glass container), combine the 100g of cooked white rice with 1/2 tbsp vinegar and 1 tbsp sesame oil.

  2. 2

Mix the rice thoroughly until the oil and vinegar are well combined, then stir in some chopped nori pieces.

  3. 3

In a separate bowl, combine the 2 drained cans of tuna with 2.5 tbsp Kewpie mayo, salt, and pepper.

  4. 4

Add 1 tbsp of sriracha (or hot sauce) to the tuna mixture if you prefer a spicy kick, and mix until uniform.

  5. 5

Assemble the dish by pressing the seasoned rice into the bottom of the air fryer container to form an even layer.

  6. 6

Spread the tuna mixture evenly over the rice layer.

  7. 7

Add another layer of chopped nori on top of the tuna.

  8. 8

Optional: Top the assembly with an extra drizzle of sauce and a layer of cheese.

  9. 9

Place the container in the air fryer and set it to cook for 10 to 15 minutes until the top is crispy and the cheese is melted.
