Ingredients

  • 4 thin-sliced chicken breasts
  • garlic powder (For seasoning the chicken; use to taste.)
  • pepper (For seasoning the chicken; use to taste.)
  • paprika (For seasoning the chicken; use to taste.)
  • cowboy butter seasoning (For seasoning the chicken; use to taste.)
  • oil (For drizzling over the chicken and cooking; amount not specified.)
  • 1 tbsp chicken drippings (Reserved from cooking the chicken.)
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1.5 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tsp cowboy butter seasoning (For the sauce.)
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • black pepper (For the sauce, to taste.)
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 18 oz refrigerated tortellini
  • 1.5 cup shredded Parmesan
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar or mozzarella cheese (The creator used cheddar but said mozzarella may be used instead.)
  • chives (For topping; amount not specified.)

Steps

  1. 1

Drizzle a little oil over the chicken breasts and season both sides with garlic powder, pepper, paprika, and cowboy butter seasoning. Rub the seasonings into the chicken.

  2. 2

Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add a drizzle of oil.

  3. 3

Cook the chicken in the hot skillet, flipping it once, for about 5 minutes per side, until it reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).

  4. 4

Remove the cooked chicken from the skillet and place it on a plate. Leave about 1 tablespoon of the chicken drippings in the pan.

  5. 5

Add the butter to the reserved drippings and let it melt.

  6. 6

Add the minced garlic. Stir and cook for 1 minute.

  7. 7

Add the chicken broth, heavy cream, 2 teaspoons cowboy butter seasoning, smoked paprika, onion powder, black pepper, and Dijon mustard. Mix to combine.

  8. 8

Add the lemon juice while stirring the sauce continuously.

  9. 9

Bring the sauce to a low boil.

  10. 10

Add the refrigerated tortellini to the simmering sauce and cook for 5–7 minutes, until the tortellini is tender and the liquid has started to thicken.

  11. 11

Add the shredded Parmesan and cheddar or mozzarella. Stir until the cheeses melt into the sauce.

  12. 12

Spoon the tortellini into bowls. Slice the chicken and lay it over the top, then finish with chives.

Notes

The source does not specify exact amounts for the chicken-seasoning spices or cooking oil. The creator used cheddar, though mozzarella was offered as an alternative. Serve immediately while the sauce is creamy.
