Ingredients
- 1 lb pizza dough (store-bought or homemade, divided into 8 balls)
- 24 pepperoni slices (about 3 per bomb)
- 4 oz mozzarella cheese (cubed or shredded)
- 0.5 cup pizza sauce (for dipping)
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- 8 pretzel sticks (to use as pumpkin stems)
Steps
- 1
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- 2
Divide the pizza dough into 8 equal-sized portions and flatten each into a small disc.
- 3
Place a few slices of pepperoni and a portion of mozzarella cheese in the center of each dough disc.
- 4
Pinch the edges of the dough together to seal the filling inside, forming a smooth ball.
- 5
Cut four lengths of kitchen twine for each bomb. Lay them in a star pattern and place the dough ball in the center, then tie the strings at the top (not too tight, as the dough will expand) to create the pumpkin ribbing effect.
- 6
Place the tied dough balls on the prepared baking sheet and brush the tops with a beaten egg wash.
- 7
Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the dough is golden brown and cooked through.
- 8
Once cooled slightly, carefully snip and remove the kitchen twine.
- 9
Insert a small piece of a pretzel stick into the top of each bomb to serve as the pumpkin stem. Serve with pizza sauce for dipping.
Notes
Be careful not to tie the kitchen twine too tightly, or it will be difficult to remove after the dough expands during baking. You can also brush with garlic butter after baking for extra flavor.
