Ingredients
- 50 g Rolled oats
- 100 ml Water
- 1 tsp Honey (Or maple syrup; sweeten to taste.)
- 120 g 0% fat Greek yogurt (For the oat layer.)
- 70 g 0% fat Greek yogurt (For the coffee layer; alternatively, use coffee-flavored yogurt.)
- 1 tazza Espresso coffee (About one small espresso; leftover moka pot coffee also works.)
- Unsweetened cocoa powder (As needed, for dusting.)
- 30 g Milk chocolate (Optional topping, for a more indulgent version.)
- 5 ml Coconut oil (To melt together with the chocolate; optional topping.)
Steps
- 1
In a bowl, combine the rolled oats, water, honey, and 120 g of 0% fat Greek yogurt. Mix thoroughly until smooth and well combined.
- 2
Transfer the mixture to a small bowl or two individual containers and level the surface with the back of a spoon.
- 3
Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours; for a softer texture and better-developed flavors, preferably leave it to rest overnight.
- 4
Before serving, prepare a small cup of espresso. You can also use leftover moka pot coffee and let it cool briefly if necessary.
- 5
Place the remaining 70 g of 0% fat Greek yogurt in a bowl and add the espresso. If preferred, sweeten to taste; the author eats it without adding any extra sugar.
- 6
Mix the yogurt and coffee until you have a smooth, evenly colored cream with no white streaks.
- 7
Pour the coffee yogurt cream over the chilled oat layer. Gently level the surface with the back of a spoon.
- 8
Serve the porridge as it is or dust the surface with unsweetened cocoa powder as needed.
- 9
For the optional topping, melt 30 g of milk chocolate together with 5 ml of coconut oil in the microwave, using short intervals and stirring between intervals until smooth.
- 10
Spread the melted chocolate evenly over the coffee yogurt layer. Refrigerate for about 2 minutes, until the topping has slightly set, then serve.
Notes
The porridge is traditionally eaten cold or at room temperature, but it can be heated in the microwave for a few seconds. If the consistency is too thick, add a small amount of liquid; if it is too runny, slightly reduce the amount of liquid next time. Vanilla is mentioned in the website text as an optional flavoring, but it does not appear in the structured ingredient list and therefore has not been added as a main ingredient.
