Ingredients
- 200 g Chicken Wings (cleaned)
- Salt (to taste)
- Black pepper (to taste)
- 1 Egg (beaten)
- 4.5 tbsp Corn flour (for the batter)
- Tepung goreng (Fried chicken flour for coating)
- Garlic (minced)
- 1 ladle Light soy sauce (approx 1/4 cup)
- 2 tbsp Dark Soy sauce
- 0.5 ladle Oyster sauce (approx 2 tbsp)
- 1.5 ladle Honey (approx 6 tbsp)
- 40 ml Lemon Juice
Steps
- 1
In a mixing bowl, combine the chicken wings with a pinch of salt, black pepper, one egg, and 4-5 tablespoons of corn flour.
- 2
Mix the chicken and marinade ingredients thoroughly until every wing is evenly coated.
- 3
Dredge the marinated chicken wings in the 'tepung goreng' (fried chicken flour) until fully coated.
- 4
Heat oil in a pan and fry the chicken wings until they are golden brown and crispy. Remove from oil and set aside.
- 5
In a separate pan or wok, sauté minced garlic until fragrant.
- 6
Add the sauce ingredients: 1 ladle light soy sauce, 2 tbsp dark soy sauce, 1/2 ladle oyster sauce, 1.5 ladles honey, and 40ml lemon juice.
- 7
Stir the sauce over medium heat until it begins to bubble and thicken slightly.
- 8
Add the fried chicken wings back into the pan and toss well until every piece is glazed with the honey lemon sauce.
Notes
The author uses a 'ladle' as a measurement unit; for home cooking, this is typically equivalent to about 1/4 cup or 60ml. Adjust the sweetness/tartness by varying the honey and lemon juice ratio.
