Ingredients
- 1 cup milk (warm)
- 0.25 cup butter (melted)
- 0.25 cup sugar
- 1 tbsp yeast (active dry or instant)
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 3 cup flour (all-purpose)
- 1 tsp salt
- 0.33 cup butter (softened for filling)
- 1 cup brown sugar (packed)
- 2.5 tsp cinnamon
Steps
- 1
In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm milk, melted butter, sugar, and yeast. Stir and let sit for a few minutes until the yeast is activated.
- 2
Add the flour, baking powder, and salt to the wet mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
- 3
Knead the dough until smooth and elastic, then cover and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size.
- 4
While the dough rises, prepare the filling by mixing the softened butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon together in a small bowl.
- 5
Once the dough has risen, roll it out on a floured surface into a large rectangle.
- 6
Spread the cinnamon-butter filling evenly across the surface of the dough.
- 7
Roll the dough up tightly into a log and slice into individual rolls.
- 8
Place the rolls in a greased baking dish and let them rise a second time until puffy.
- 9
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
- 10
Bake the rolls for 30 minutes until golden brown.
Notes
These rolls stay soft for days. Ensure the milk is warm but not hot to avoid killing the yeast.
