Ingredients
- 16 oz chicken thighs (cut into 1-inch bite-sized chunks)
- 1 tbsp neutral oil (for cooking)
- 1 tbsp dark soy sauce
- 2 tbsp light soy sauce
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce
- 3 garlic (cloves, grated)
- 1.5 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- green onions (sliced for garnish)
- white rice (for serving)
Steps
- 1
Slice the chicken thighs into 1-inch bite-sized pieces.
- 2
Place the chicken pieces into a bowl and add the dark soy sauce, light soy sauce, oyster sauce, grated garlic, brown sugar, honey, rice vinegar, and sesame oil.
- 3
Mix well to ensure the chicken is evenly coated and let it marinate for at least 15 minutes, or up to overnight in the refrigerator.
- 4
Preheat a pan over medium-high heat and add a bit of neutral oil.
- 5
Add the chicken along with all of the marinade into the hot pan.
- 6
Cook the chicken until it reaches an internal temperature of at least 165°F (74°C). As the chicken cooks, the sauce will naturally thicken and become sticky.
- 7
Serve the chicken over a bed of rice and top with sliced green onions if desired.
Notes
For a more tender texture, some users recommend velveting the chicken first. If you don't have oyster sauce, hoisin sauce can be used as a substitute. The recipe can also be adapted for tofu.
