Ingredients

  • 500 g beef strips
  • 2 tbsp sesame oil (For the beef marinade)
  • 0.25 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp white pepper (For the beef marinade)
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce (For the beef marinade)
  • 1 tbsp dark soy sauce (For the beef marinade)
  • 1 tbsp light soy sauce (For the beef marinade)
  • 1 tsp brown sugar (For the beef marinade)
  • 3 tbsp sesame oil (For the stir-fry)
  • 1 onion (Roughly chopped)
  • 3 garlic (Minced cloves)
  • 1 packet stir-fry vegetable mix (Alternatively, make your own by chopping spring onions, red peppers, bean sprouts, cabbage, and carrots; amount unspecified)
  • 4 packets cooked udon noodles
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce (For the stir-fry)
  • 2 tsp dark soy sauce (For the stir-fry)
  • 2 tsp light soy sauce (For the stir-fry)
  • 1 tsp chicken powder
  • 1 tsp white pepper (For the stir-fry)
  • 1 tsp brown sugar (For the stir-fry)
  • 1 tsp ginger powder
  • sesame seeds (For garnish; amount unspecified)

Steps

  1. 1

Combine the beef strips with the 2 tablespoons sesame oil, baking soda, 1 teaspoon white pepper, 1 tablespoon oyster sauce, 1 tablespoon dark soy sauce, 1 tablespoon light soy sauce, and 1 teaspoon brown sugar. Marinate for at least 30 minutes, preferably overnight.

  2. 2

Heat a wok over high heat and add the 3 tablespoons sesame oil for the stir-fry.

  3. 3

Add the marinated beef to the hot wok and cook for about 3 minutes, taking care not to overcook it and make it tough.

  4. 4

Remove the beef from the wok. Add the roughly chopped onion and minced garlic, then fry until browned.

  5. 5

Add the stir-fry vegetable mix. Cook over medium heat until the vegetables have softened.

  6. 6

Add the cooked udon noodles and return the beef to the wok.

  7. 7

Add the remaining oyster sauce, dark soy sauce, light soy sauce, chicken powder, white pepper, brown sugar, and ginger powder. Mix until everything is well combined.

  8. 8

Garnish with sesame seeds and serve.
