Ingredients
- 8 Rice paper (round sheets)
- 200 g Firm tofu (crumbled or finely chopped)
- 1 cup Cabbage (finely shredded)
- 1 Carrot (grated)
- 2 Green onions (chopped)
- 2 cloves Garlic (minced)
- 1 tsp Fresh ginger (grated)
- 1 tbsp Soy sauce (use tamari for a gluten-free version)
- 1 tsp Sesame oil
- 2 tbsp Frying oil (neutral oil for the pan)
Steps
- 1
Prepare the filling by mixing the crumbled tofu, shredded cabbage, carrot, green onions, garlic, and ginger in a bowl.
- 2
Season the mixture with the soy sauce (or tamari) and sesame oil. Mix well until the filling is homogeneous.
- 3
Dip a rice paper sheet into lukewarm water for a few seconds until pliable, then lay it flat on a plate or a non-stick surface.
- 4
Place a small amount of filling on the bottom edge of the rice paper sheet.
- 5
Roll the rice paper tightly to form a long, thin cylinder.
- 6
Coil the cylinder around itself to create a spiral or snail shape.
- 7
Repeat the process for the remaining ingredients.
- 8
Heat the frying oil in a pan over medium heat.
- 9
Place the spirals in the pan and cook for 3 to 4 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
- 10
Serve immediately with a dipping sauce of your choice.
Notes
Tip: Do not roll the rice paper on a wooden surface as it tends to stick; instead, use a ceramic plate or a plastic work surface. To ensure the recipe is 100% gluten-free, make sure to use Tamari instead of regular soy sauce.
