Steps

Prawn Marinade

  1. Rinse the prawns and pat them dry with paper towel. Put them in a bowl and add the olive oil, coating the prawns. Add the sweet paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and chili flakes; toss to season evenly and set aside.

Pasta

  1. Bring a medium pot of water to a boil. Add salt, then add the fettuccine and cook according to the package instructions while preparing the sauce. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water before draining.

  2. Melt the butter in a hot pan. Add the seasoned prawns and gently stir them around the pan, cooking until almost done. Remove the prawns from the pan and set aside.

  3. Using the same pan, add the finely diced onion and sauté for several minutes, until soft.

  4. Add the chili flakes and minced garlic to the pan. Stir for 1 minute.

  5. Add the Dijon mustard and stir it into the aromatics.

  6. Pour in the chicken stock dissolved in boiling water to deglaze the pan. Simmer for a few minutes, until the stock is slightly reduced.

  7. Add the thickened cream, followed by the freshly squeezed lemon juice. Stir and bring the sauce to a gentle boil.

  8. Add the reserved pasta water and grated Parmesan, then return the prawns to the pan. Mix well.

  9. Add the drained fettuccine and freshly chopped parsley. Gently toss until the pasta is evenly coated.

  10. Let the pasta simmer for several minutes before serving.

Notes

The post describes the meal as ready in 20 minutes. The amount of salt for the pasta cooking water is not specified. Reserve pasta water while cooking; a specific straining/holding method is not otherwise described.
