Ingredients
- 8 pcs white bread (milk bread preferred; can use bread ends)
- 0.5 cup salted butter (sliced, plus more to brush)
- 0.5 cup unsalted butter (to soak)
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- flaky sea salt (to garnish)
Steps
- 1
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
- 2
Slice the salted butter into thin pieces.
- 3
Sandwich the sliced salted butter between two pieces of white bread to create 4 sandwiches total.
- 4
Melt the unsalted butter in a shallow dish.
- 5
Dunk each sandwich into the melted unsalted butter, ensuring the bread is well-soaked.
- 6
Whisk the egg to create an egg wash and brush the tops of the sandwiches.
- 7
Garnish the tops with a generous sprinkle of flaky sea salt.
- 8
Bake for 15-20 minutes until the toast is very golden and crispy on the outside.
Notes
This recipe is particularly good when using the ends of the bread loaf. While it differs from traditional salt bread rolls, it provides the same buttery, salty flavor profile with significantly less effort.
