  • Salt (To taste; for seasoning the beef, shrimp, pico de gallo, sauce, and guacamole.)
  • Pepper (To taste; for the beef, shrimp, and sauce.)
  • Onion powder (To taste; for the beef, shrimp, and a little for the sauce.)
  • Paprika (To taste; the author mentions that she makes it from scratch.)
  • Seasoning sauce (To taste; for seasoning the beef and shrimp.)
  • 2 dientes Garlic (For seasoning the beef.)
  • 0.5 Lime (Juice, for seasoning the beef.)
  • 2.5 lb Shrimp (Approximately 2½ lb; season with the same seasonings as the beef.)
  • Oil (A little, for cooking the beef and, if needed, the shrimp.)
  • Butter (A little for the skillet and an additional small piece for the shrimp if necessary.)
  • 4 Tomatoes (For the pico de gallo.)
  • 1 Onion (A piece, for the pico de gallo.)
  • 1 Cucumber (For the pico de gallo.)
  • 1 Jalapeño (Seeded, so it will be less spicy.)
  • 1 ramito Cilantro (For the pico de gallo.)
  • Lime (To taste; for the pico de gallo and guacamole.)
  • 6 tbsp Mayonnaise (For the dressing.)
  • 6 tbsp Milk (For the dressing.)
  • 1 diente Garlic (For the dressing.)
  • Chipotle pepper (To taste, for the dressing.)
  • Avocado (Amount not specified; for making guacamole.)
  • Tostadas (Amount not specified; for assembling the tostadas.)

Steps

  1. 1

Cut the beef steak into small pieces and place it in a bowl. Add salt, pepper, onion powder, paprika, seasoning sauce, 2 garlic cloves, and the juice of half a lime.

  2. 2

Mix the beef well with the seasonings so it is seasoned on all sides.

  3. 3

Season the shrimp with the same seasonings used for the beef, adjusting everything to taste.

  4. 4

Chop the tomatoes, a piece of onion, the cucumber, and the seeded jalapeño. Chop the cilantro as well, then mix everything together to prepare the pico de gallo.

  5. 5

Season the pico de gallo with salt and lime juice to taste.

  6. 6

Place the mayonnaise, milk, 1 garlic clove, chipotle pepper, salt, pepper, and a little onion powder in a blender.

  7. 7

Blend the ingredients until you have a smooth dressing.

  8. 8

Prepare the guacamole and mix it only with salt and lime, to taste.

  9. 9

Heat a skillet with a little oil and butter.

  10. 10

Add the beef to the skillet and cook it to your preferred doneness until browned. Remove it from the skillet.

  11. 11

In the same skillet, cook the shrimp; if needed, add a little oil and a small piece of butter.

  12. 12

When the shrimp are browned, remove them from the skillet.

  13. 13

Assemble each tostada by first adding a layer of guacamole, followed by the beef and shrimp. Add plenty, according to your taste.

  14. 14

Finish the tostadas with pico de gallo and the chipotle dressing.

Notes

Exact amounts are not provided for the seasonings, oil, butter, complete pico de gallo, guacamole, or tostadas. Cooking times and temperature are also not specified; cook the beef to your preferred doneness. The author notes that your preferred cut of beef can be used.
