Ingredients
- 1 cup Ketchup
- 0.25 cup Brown sugar
- 0.25 cup Apple cider vinegar
- 2 tbsp Honey
- 1 tbsp Mustard
- 0.5 tbsp Smoked paprika
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce (The video calls it Perrins sauce.)
- 0.5 tbsp Garlic powder
- 0.5 tbsp Onion powder
- 0.5 tbsp Ground black pepper
- 0.5 tbsp Salt
Steps
- 1
Place the ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, honey, mustard, smoked paprika, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt in a small saucepan. If using a food processor, add all the ingredients to its bowl.
- 2
If preparing it in a saucepan, whisk all the ingredients until no lumps remain and the spices are evenly distributed.
- 3
Heat the sauce over low heat for approximately 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it is hot and all the flavors have blended. In a food processor, cook it at 90 °C, speed 1, for 15 minutes.
- 4
Remove the sauce from the heat or food processor and let it cool slightly. It will be relatively liquid when freshly made; it will thicken and develop a creamier texture after cooling.
- 5
Transfer the sauce to a clean container, cover it, and refrigerate it for several hours before serving so it can thicken.
Notes
The sauce becomes thicker and creamier after several hours in the refrigerator. The author indicates that it can be prepared either in a food processor or in a small saucepan.
