Ingredients
- 24 Frozen wontons or dumplings (Cook according to the package instructions.)
- 3 tbsp Creamy or natural peanut butter
- 2 tbsp Chili oil (For the sauce; homemade chili oil may also be used.)
- 2 tbsp Light soy sauce
- 2 tbsp Rice vinegar
- 2 dientes Garlic (Finely chopped.)
- 1 tsp Superfine sugar
- 0.25 cup Hot water
- Chili oil for tossing and finishing (A small amount for tossing with the wontons, plus more for drizzling when serving.)
- Toasted peanuts (For garnish; chopped or whole.)
- Scallions (Chopped.)
- Toasted white sesame seeds (For garnish.)
Steps
- 1
Place the peanut butter, 2 tbsp chili oil, soy sauce, rice vinegar, chopped garlic, sugar, and hot water in a blender. Blend until completely smooth and creamy. Alternatively, whisk all the ingredients together in a bowl until well combined; taste and adjust the seasoning as desired.
- 2
Bring water to a boil in a pot large enough to hold the wontons. Add the frozen wontons and cook them exactly according to the package instructions, until tender and heated through.
- 3
Carefully drain the cooked wontons so they do not break, and transfer them to a bowl. Add a little chili oil and toss gently until they are lightly coated and fragrant.
- 4
Divide the hot wontons among four bowls or serving plates.
- 5
Generously drizzle the spicy peanut sauce over the wontons, distributing it evenly.
- 6
Finish each portion with more chili oil, toasted peanuts, chopped scallions, and toasted white sesame seeds. Serve immediately while the wontons are hot.
Notes
The amount of chili oil and garnishes is not specified; adjust them according to your preferred level of spiciness and taste. The sauce can be prepared in advance and refrigerated in a sealed container; stir it before serving and, if it thickens, thin it with a little hot water.
