Ingredients

  • 2 lb stew meat
  • 1 stick garlic and herb butter (1/2 cup)
  • 2 can golden mushroom soup (standard 10.5 oz cans)
  • 1 packet au jus gravy mix
  • 1.5 tsp onion powder (1-2 teaspoons)
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 0.75 cup beef broth
  • 1 block Philadelphia cream cheese (8 oz block)
  • 12 oz egg noodles (cooked)
  • 0.5 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella

Steps

  1. 1

Place two pounds of stew meat into the bottom of a crock pot.

  2. 2

Place a whole stick of garlic and herb butter directly on top of the meat.

  3. 3

Add two cans of golden mushroom soup to the crock pot.

  4. 4

Add one packet of au jus gravy mix, 1-2 teaspoons of onion powder, and approximately 1 teaspoon of black pepper.

  5. 5

Pour three quarters of a cup of beef broth over the ingredients.

  6. 6

Stir the ingredients together briefly to distribute the flavors.

  7. 7

Place one 8-ounce block of cream cheese on top of the mixture.

  8. 8

Cover with the lid and cook on high for 4 to 5 hours.

  9. 9

After cooking, remove the lid and stir the mixture thoroughly to incorporate the melted cream cheese and butter.

  10. 10

Add 12 ounces of cooked egg noodles and one half cup of sour cream to the pot.

  11. 11

Stir until the noodles and sour cream are well combined with the beef and sauce.

  12. 12

Add one cup of shredded mozzarella cheese and stir until the cheese is completely melted and stretchy.

Notes

The recipe uses 'golden mushroom soup' specifically, which provides a deeper flavor than standard cream of mushroom. Ensure the egg noodles are cooked separately before adding them to the crock pot at the end.
