Ingredients
Steps
Prepare the sauce first: In a pan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped garlic and sauté until fragrant.
Stir in the chilli flakes, soy sauce, tomato sauce, honey, and water. Simmer the sauce until it thickens slightly, then remove from heat and set aside to cool completely.
In a bowl, mix the plain flour, corn flour, and salt. In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs.
Dip each chicken cube into the egg mixture, then coat thoroughly in the flour mixture.
Heat oil in a deep pan or wok. Deep fry the coated chicken in batches until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
Once the sauce has cooled, toss the crispy fried chicken in the sauce until evenly coated.
Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped spring onions before serving.
Notes
Ensure the sauce is completely cool before tossing with the chicken to maintain the crispiness of the fried coating. If the sauce is too hot, it will soften the breading.
