Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp garlic (minced)
  • 1 onion (medium, diced)
  • 0.5 red bell pepper (diced)
  • 0.5 green bell pepper (diced)
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 cup broth (any broth)
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp cold water (for the cornstarch slurry)
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch (for the slurry)
  • 1 cabbage (head, chopped)

Steps

  1. 1

Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the minced garlic, diced onion, diced red bell pepper, and diced green bell pepper. Cook until the vegetables are soft.

  2. 2

Add the lean ground beef, salt, black pepper, paprika, chili powder, and Italian seasoning. Cook, breaking up the beef as it browns, until the meat is browned.

  3. 3

Stir in the tomato paste and cook for about 1 minute to deepen its flavor.

  4. 4

Add the broth, Worcestershire sauce, and the cornstarch slurry. Stir everything together and bring the mixture to a gentle boil.

  5. 5

Add the chopped cabbage and stir until it is coated in the beef mixture and liquid.

  6. 6

Cover the pot, reduce the heat to low, and simmer for 10 minutes, until the cabbage is tender but still has a slight crunch.

  7. 7

    Serve hot and enjoy.
