Ingredients
- 3 ripe bananas (large, mashed)
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 0.5 tsp salt
- 0.75 cup brown sugar
- 0.5 cup butter (room temperature; use some to grease the pan if not using parchment)
- 2 large eggs (room temperature)
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
- 0.5 cup chocolate chips (mix into the batter and add some on top)
- 0.5 cup walnuts (roughly chopped)
- 0.5 cup milk
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
Steps
- 1
Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease the bottom and sides of a baking pan with butter, then set it aside. The source later specifies using a loaf pan; you may instead line the loaf pan with parchment paper.
- 2
In a large mixing bowl, add the softened room-temperature butter and brown sugar. Using an electric mixer on low speed, beat until combined, then continue beating for 3–4 minutes. Scrape down the sides of the bowl.
- 3
Add the room-temperature eggs and beat on low speed until just combined.
- 4
Add the mashed bananas, milk, and vanilla extract. Beat on low speed until fully combined.
- 5
Add the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Whisk until just combined, taking care not to overmix.
- 6
Mix the roughly chopped walnuts and chocolate chips into the batter. The finished batter will be very thick.
- 7
Line a loaf pan with parchment paper or coat it with butter. Transfer the thick batter to the pan and add some additional chocolate chips on top.
- 8
Bake at 350°F for roughly 1 hour and 15 minutes.
Notes
The source gives an approximate baking time but does not state a doneness test or cooling instructions. It mentions greasing a baking pan first and later specifies lining or buttering a loaf pan; use one loaf pan preparation method.
