Ingredients
- 20 oz frozen mangoes (or other fruit such as strawberries, blueberries, or peaches)
- 1 oz sweetened condensed milk (14-ounce can; use nondairy condensed milk for a vegan version)
Steps
- 1
Place the frozen mango and sweetened condensed milk in a high-speed blender or food processor.
- 2
If using a less powerful blender, briefly rinse the frozen fruit in cold water to soften slightly before blending.
- 3
Blend the mixture for 1 to 3 minutes, stopping the machine often to tamp down the fruit or scrape down the sides to help it break up, until the texture is smooth and airy.
- 4
Serve immediately for a soft-serve consistency. For a firmer texture, scrape the mixture into a loaf pan or container, cover, and freeze for 1 hour until firm enough to scoop.
Notes
Variations: Add lime zest to the mango version. If using other fruits, consider adding vanilla extract, rose water, cardamom, or ginger. Storage: Can be frozen for up to 7 days; let stand at room temperature for 5-10 minutes before scooping.
