Ingredients

  • 4 oz mozzarella cheese (shredded; divided, with three-quarters mixed into the sauce and the remainder reserved for topping)
  • 4 oz Colby Jack cheese (shredded; divided)
  • 4 oz sharp cheddar cheese (shredded; divided)
  • 4 oz Gruyere cheese (shredded; divided)
  • 8 oz cavatappi pasta (boiled according to package instructions)
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp chicken bouillon powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika (powder)
  • salt (to taste)
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 2 cup heavy whipping cream (Have a little extra available for a splash if the sauce becomes too thick.)
  • 0.5 cup evaporated milk
  • 3 tbsp butter

Steps

  1. 1

Boil the cavatappi pasta according to the package instructions. Drain it and set the cooked pasta aside.

  2. 2

Add the butter, heavy whipping cream, evaporated milk, salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, chicken bouillon powder, Dijon mustard, cornstarch, and garlic powder to the Crispi Pro glass container.

  3. 3

Whisk the mixture in the glass container until everything is well combined.

  4. 4

Place the glass container in the air fryer and cook for 10 to 12 minutes, stirring halfway through, until the cream is hot and slightly thickened.

  5. 5

Gradually stir in three-quarters of each shredded cheese—mozzarella, cheddar, Colby Jack, and Gruyere—adding it a handful at a time.

  6. 6

Mix gently until the sauce is thick and creamy. If it feels too thick, loosen it with a splash of cream.

  7. 7

Cook again at 350°F for 7 to 8 minutes, until the cheese sauce is completely melted and glossy.

  8. 8

Stir the cooked pasta into the cheese sauce until the cavatappi is evenly coated.

  9. 9

Sprinkle the remaining shredded cheese evenly over the top.

  10. 10

Cook at 365°F for 10 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly with slightly crisp edges.

  11. 11

Let the mac and cheese rest for 5 minutes before serving so the sauce thickens slightly.
