Ingredients
- 4 tbsp plain flour (heat-treated and cooled)
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 0.25 tsp baking powder
- 40 ml water
- 25 ml vegetable oil (or melted butter)
- 0.5 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp icing sugar
- 1 tsp milk
- sprinkles (colorful sprinkles for topping)
Steps
- 1
Heat-treat the flour by microwaving 4 tablespoons of plain flour for 1 minute 20 seconds, stirring every 20 seconds. Allow it to cool completely before using.
- 2
In a microwave-safe mug, whisk together the heat-treated flour, 2 tablespoons granulated sugar, and 1/4 teaspoon baking powder.
- 3
Add 40ml water, 25ml oil (or melted butter), and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract to the mug.
- 4
Whisk the ingredients together until the batter is smooth and well combined.
- 5
Microwave on medium to low power, keeping a close eye on the mug to prevent the batter from overflowing. Cook until the cake is set in the center (times vary by microwave power).
- 6
While the cake cools slightly, prepare the glaze by mixing 2 tablespoons icing sugar with 1 teaspoon milk in a small bowl until smooth.
- 7
Pour the glaze over the warm mug cake and top immediately with sprinkles.
Notes
Microwave Tips: Cook on medium to low power to prevent overflowing. You can halve the recipe to make one smaller serving, or use the full recipe for one large mug or two small ones.
