Ingredients
- 6 bone-in pork chops (About 1 inch thick; use chops of similar thickness for even cooking.)
- 0.5 cup brown sugar (Packed)
- 0.25 cup unsalted butter (Melted)
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 0.5 tsp garlic powder
- 0.25 tsp black pepper
- salt (To taste; use a small amount in the glaze.)
- neutral oil or cooking spray (For lightly greasing the baking dish.)
Steps
- 1
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a baking dish large enough to hold all six pork chops in a single layer.
- 2
Melt the butter if it is not already melted, then place it in a small bowl.
- 3
Add the brown sugar, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, black pepper, and a small amount of salt to the melted butter.
- 4
Stir the mixture until the sugar and seasonings are evenly incorporated and the glaze is well combined.
- 5
Arrange the pork chops in the prepared baking dish in a single layer.
- 6
Spoon the brown sugar mixture evenly over the pork chops, coating the tops generously.
- 7
Bake the pork chops uncovered for 12–15 minutes.
- 8
Carefully spoon some of the sauce from the bottom of the baking dish back over the pork chops.
- 9
Continue baking for another 13–15 minutes, or until the thickest part of the pork chops reaches an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C). Cooking time may vary with chop thickness.
- 10
For a more caramelized finish, switch the oven to broil and broil the pork chops for 2–3 minutes, watching closely because the sugar can burn quickly.
- 11
Remove the pork chops from the oven and let them rest for 3–5 minutes so the juices redistribute and the meat stays tender.
- 12
Spoon the warm brown sugar sauce from the baking dish over the pork chops and serve.
Notes
Use pork chops of similar thickness so they cook evenly. Check doneness with an instant-read thermometer rather than relying only on time. Watch carefully during broiling to prevent the brown sugar glaze from burning.
