Ingredients
- 1.75 barra Salted butter (At room temperature and very soft; approximately 198 g total.)
- 1 cup Sugar
- 4 Eggs (Add one at a time. The audio first mentions three eggs, but later refers to adding another egg; the quantity is slightly ambiguous.)
- 2.5 cup All-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp Baking powder (The indicated tablespoon is equivalent to 15 ml.)
- 1 tbsp Vanilla
- 200 ml Milk (Add in two portions.)
- Butter or margarine for greasing (As needed to grease an 8 × 8-inch pan.)
Steps
- 1
Leave the salted butter at room temperature for approximately 1–2 hours, depending on the weather, until it is very soft.
- 2
Place the softened butter in a bowl and beat it briefly with a mixer to soften it further.
- 3
Add the sugar and beat for approximately 5 minutes, or until the mixture is very creamy, airy, and pale in color.
- 4
Add the eggs one at a time, beating after each addition. The transcription is inconsistent about whether there are three or four eggs; add the quantity listed, following this procedure.
- 5
Beat the mixture for approximately 1–1½ minutes after adding the last egg.
- 6
Scrape the sides and bottom of the bowl with a spatula so that the entire mixture is incorporated evenly.
- 7
Add the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and vanilla.
- 8
Add the milk in two portions, mixing first with a spatula.
- 9
Finish incorporating the batter with the mixer, but do not overbeat; mix only until the ingredients are incorporated and the mixture is creamy.
- 10
Grease an 8 × 8-inch square pan with butter or margarine.
- 11
Pour the mixture into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.
- 12
Preheat the oven to 350 °F (180 °C).
- 13
Bake the bread for approximately 50 minutes, until it is fully baked and golden.
- 14
If the bread is already baked but has not reached the desired level of browning, increase the oven temperature to 375 °F and bake it a little longer to finish browning it.
- 15
Let the bread cool for approximately 30 minutes before removing it from the pan.
- 16
Remove from the pan and serve.
Notes
The transcription contains a contradiction about the number of eggs: it first indicates three and later mentions adding another egg. It has been interpreted as four eggs, but the original video should be confirmed. The additional baking time at 375 °F for browning is not specified; monitor the bread to prevent it from burning.
