Ingredients

  • 2 slices sourdough bread
  • 1.5 tbsp butter (softened)
  • 2 oz brie cheese (sliced)
  • 2 oz fontina cheese (shredded)
  • 1 tsp fresh thyme leaves
  • flaky salt (a pinch)
  • black pepper (a pinch)
  • 2.5 slices prosciutto (about 2-3 slices)
  • 1 handful arugula
  • 1.5 tsp chili crisp (about 1-2 tsp)
  • 0.25 cup blueberry basil jam

Steps

  1. 1

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

  2. 2

Butter both sides of each sourdough slice using the softened butter.

  3. 3

Heat a skillet over medium heat. Place the bread in the skillet and toast one side of each slice until golden brown.

  4. 4

Flip the bread slices over. On the toasted side of one slice, layer the shredded fontina, sliced brie, blueberry basil jam, and fresh thyme leaves.

  5. 5

Top with the second slice of sourdough (toasted side facing inward) and continue to toast in the skillet until the bottom exterior is lightly golden.

  6. 6

Transfer the sandwich to the preheated 400°F oven and bake for 6–8 minutes, or until the cheeses are perfectly melted and bubbly.

  7. 7

Remove from the oven and carefully open the sandwich or layer on top with the prosciutto slices, a handful of fresh arugula, and a spoonful of chili crisp.

  8. 8

Slice the sandwich in half, serve immediately, and enjoy.

Notes

The author suggests using a homemade blueberry basil jam for the best flavor profile. If you don't have blueberry basil jam, you can use standard blueberry jam and add extra fresh basil leaves.
