Ingredients

  • 1 sausage (Cut into small pieces; approximately 100 g edible sausage meat)
  • 2 cheese slices (Approximately 40 g total)
  • ketchup or tomato sauce (A small amount for each ice cube cavity; estimated approximately 30 g total)
  • 70 g pizza dough (Use enough dough to form the base and cover the filled tray; the source specifies 70 g)
  • olive oil (For greasing the ice cube tray; estimated approximately 1 tsp)
  • 1 egg (Beaten, for brushing the dough; approximately 50 g edible egg)

Steps

  1. 1

Preheat the oven to 250°C (482°F). Lightly grease the cavities of an ice cube tray with olive oil so the dough will release easily after baking.

  2. 2

Lay a sheet of the pizza dough over the greased ice cube tray, pressing it gently into the cavities without tearing it.

  3. 3

Place a small piece of sausage into each cavity, distributing the sausage evenly among the portions.

  4. 4

Add a little ketchup or tomato sauce to each cavity over the sausage. Do not overfill the cavities, as the filling will expand and may spill during baking.

  5. 5

Place the two cheese slices over the filled tray, arranging them so the cheese is distributed across the cavities.

  6. 6

Cover the tray with another sheet or portion of pizza dough, sealing the filling beneath it.

  7. 7

Firmly press a rolling pin over the top of the tray to cut and seal the dough around the individual portions.

  8. 8

Place a baking tray over the ice cube tray and carefully flip the assembly so the filled dough portions are transferred onto the baking tray. Lift away the ice cube tray.

  9. 9

Beat the egg and brush it over the exposed dough surface to help it brown.

  10. 10

Bake at 250°C (482°F) for 13–15 minutes, until the dough is golden brown and cooked through. Serve warm.

Notes

The source does not specify the amount of ketchup or tomato sauce, olive oil, or the number and size of ice cube tray cavities; these amounts are estimated. Use an oven-safe, sturdy ice cube tray and avoid filling the cavities too deeply. Handle the tray carefully when flipping it onto the baking tray.
