Ingredients
- 200 g Dried red lentils (Cover with water and soak for 4 hours or overnight; drain and rinse before blending.)
- 150 ml Water (For blending the lentils after soaking.)
- Salt (As needed, both in the batter and for the final seasoning.)
- Black pepper (As needed.)
- 2 tbsp Extra-virgin olive oil (Add to the batter.)
- Paprika (As needed for the final seasoning; the quantity is not specified in the source.)
- Extra-virgin olive oil (As needed to season the triangles with paprika and salt; the quantity is not specified in the source.)
Steps
- 1
Cover the dried red lentils with plenty of water and soak them for 4 hours; alternatively, you can leave them overnight.
- 2
Drain the soaked lentils and rinse them thoroughly under running water.
- 3
Place the lentils in a blender. Add 150 ml of water, salt, pepper, and 2 tbsp of oil, then blend until smooth and homogeneous.
- 4
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and pour the lentil mixture onto it. Spread it into a very thin, even layer to encourage a crispy texture.
- 5
Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 30 minutes, until the surface is cooked and firm enough to cut.
- 6
Remove the lentil sheet from the oven and let it cool enough to handle without breaking.
- 7
Cut the sheet first into strips and then into triangles using a knife or pizza cutter.
- 8
In a bowl, mix the oil, paprika, and additional salt to make the final seasoning.
- 9
Add the triangles to the bowl and toss gently, making sure they are well coated with the seasoning without breaking them.
- 10
Arrange the triangles again on the parchment-lined baking sheet, preferably in a single layer without overlapping.
- 11
Return the baking sheet to the oven at 180°C for another 10-15 minutes, checking toward the end, until the triangles are completely dry, golden, and very crispy.
- 12
Let the chips cool briefly: they will become even crispier as they cool. Serve immediately.
Notes
The quantities of paprika and oil used for the final seasoning are not specified: add them gradually to taste. For an even texture, spread the batter as thinly as possible and do not overlap the triangles during the second bake.
