Ingredients
- 1 Baguette (Approximately 250 g; halved lengthwise or cut into deep slices without separating them completely.)
- 0.5 cup Unsalted butter (Melted; salted butter may be used and the additional salt adjusted.)
- 4 dientes Garlic (Finely chopped or pressed.)
- 2 tbsp Fresh parsley (Finely chopped.)
- Salt (To taste.)
- 1.5 cup Shredded mozzarella (Approximately 150 g; preferably low-moisture mozzarella for better browning.)
- 0.25 cup Grated Parmesan cheese (Approximately 25 g.)
Steps
- 1
Preheat the oven to 200 °C. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil.
- 2
Place the baguette on a cutting board and cut it in half lengthwise. You can also make deep crosswise cuts at intervals without completely separating the slices.
- 3
Melt the butter in a small skillet over medium-low heat. Cook until fragrant and lightly browned, taking care not to let it burn.
- 4
Add the chopped garlic to the butter and cook for 30 to 60 seconds, until fragrant. Remove the skillet from the heat and stir in the parsley and salt to taste.
- 5
Spread the garlic butter over the entire cut surface of the baguette, making sure it penetrates between the cuts or slices.
- 6
Top the baguette with the shredded mozzarella and sprinkle the Parmesan over it.
- 7
Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, until the bread is crisp around the edges and the cheeses are completely melted.
- 8
For a more golden finish, switch to the broiler for 1 to 3 minutes, watching continuously to prevent the cheese from burning.
- 9
Let rest for 2 minutes, cut into portions, and serve hot as an accompaniment to pasta, soups, or barbecued foods.
