Ingredients
- 1 Apple (large, cored and chopped)
- 0.5 cup Oats (rolled or quick oats)
- 0.25 cup Milk (breast milk, formula, or whole cow's milk)
- 0.5 tsp Cinnamon (ground)
- 1 Egg (large)
- 1 tsp Unsalted Butter (for greasing the pan)
Steps
- 1
Prepare the apple by washing and coring it. You can leave the skin on for extra nutrients as it will be pulverized in the blender.
- 2
Place the chopped apple, 1/2 cup oats, 1/4 cup milk, 1/2 tsp cinnamon, and 1 egg into a blender.
- 3
Blend the mixture on high speed until completely smooth and the oats have turned into a fine batter consistency.
- 4
Heat a non-stick frying pan or pancake pan over medium-low heat and add a small amount of butter to lightly coat the surface.
- 5
Pour small amounts of the batter into the pan to create mini pancakes (roughly 2-3 inches wide), which are easier for babies to grasp.
- 6
Cook for 2-3 minutes on the first side until the edges appear set and small bubbles form. Flip carefully with a spatula.
- 7
Cook the second side for another 1-2 minutes until golden brown and cooked through. Ensure they are soft and not over-browned for younger babies.
- 8
Remove from the pan and allow to cool to a safe temperature before serving.
Notes
Storage: These pancakes can be frozen for up to 3 months. To reheat, use a microwave for 20 seconds or a low-heat oven until warmed through. Suitable for babies from 6 months+ who are starting solids.
